Ready for a night-in of self care? I have a great recipe for making your own sugar scrub. Most of the ingredients are probably already in your kitchen! All you need is sugar, oil, and the essential oil of your choice to make a gentle but effective scrub for your face and body.

I used to use lavender as my go-to fragrance but the last time I made it I tried something new. I am in love with Mrs. Meyer’s Basil Hand Soap, so I thought I would try scenting my scrub with Basil too. It’s better than I imagined, it’s so yummy and uplifting. When I use it in the shower it leaves the whole bathroom smelling so fresh!
3/4 C sugar
1/2 C olive oil
10 drops essential oil
Combine the ingredients in a bowl.
If you use brown sugar you may need a little extra oil to hold it together. It should be a thick paste when blended. If it seems a little too runny, just add a touch of sugar.
Place in a small mason jar with a lid. I am a huge fan of these Ball plastic lids (pictured above). I don’t like how the canning lids get corroded after a couple uses. The plastic ones are easy to wash and come in regular and wide mouth to fit all of your jars. Please be advised the plastic lids are not suitable for canning, only food storage.
And it’s that simple to make your own exfoliating scrub!
