I have the best news! Drought, the Michigan-based cold-pressed, organic juice retailer has opened a location in Ann Arbor. I have been a fan of vegetable juices since the mid 1990s when I was actually working as “Juice Bar-tender” in a local health food store while I was in college. You may not remember, but even Whole Foods used to have juice bars, however the demand died out and seemed to give way to coffee bars.
Like any trend that is making a comeback, the resurgence is somewhat new and improved. Drought is not a “juice bar” because the juices aren’t made-to-order onsite, but instead they offer several formulas which are made in their Oakland County facility and sold in their six Metro-Detroit locations within three days. They’re also the leading USDA certified organic juice brand in the Midwest.
And they have the most beautiful packaging.
My personal favorites are:
Immunity Potion which is intense, but very effective. It’s 4 ounces of apple, lemon, ginger, oil of oregano, turmeric, and Vitamin C, great for when you feel a cold coming on or know you will have a challenging week.
Green #1 because it is a classic “green drink” like the ones I used to make in my juice bar days. This one is chard, cabbage, apple, celery, kale, and lemon. The apple and lemon sweeten it a bit and you feel like you are bestowing your body with the very best nutrients when sipping it.
They also offer many that err on the fruitier side and classic carrot blends for those not ready to plunge into the hardcore greens just yet.
They also offer Juice Cleanse Kits through their website. And they will deliver.
Check them out on 204. E. Washington.
I swear it’s the 90s all over again. First it was clothing trends and redux TV shows like Twin Peaks, and now fresh juice.
